Education & The Legislature

The actions of legislative bodies can have a profound effect on the education and well-being of children. Texas PTA supports legislation that improves health, well-being and educational opportunities for every child. Successful implementation of Texas PTA legislative positions is characterized by people working together to assure wise legislative decisions through knowledge of the process and an understanding of the issues.

At the local level, the GCISD Council of PTAs is focused on education, the future of education and working together for education. We advocate for parents and teachers through outreach and engagement. Our legislative efforts through the Council of PTAs are non-partisan and we will never advocate who to vote for. But, we do advocate that is important to vote. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 is the last day to register to vote in the November 6, 2018 election. Early voting for the November 6, 2018 election will take place between October 22 and November 2, 2018.

There is a Legislative Forum on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Colleyville Center from 6:30 - 8:00pm. Legislators from around the area or their representatives will be present to speak about their legislative priorities, specifically those related to education.

Also, please mark your calendars for the 2019 Texas Legislative Session Rally Day on February 25, 2019.
