CHHS PTSA & GHS PTSA partner to support GCISD College Night

The CHHS PTSA and the GHS PTSA came together on October 17th to host a meal for the 149+ colleges participating in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD’s annual college night.

Special thank you to Summer Hahne, Tanya Nelson, Theresa Schreck, and our AVID students for setting up and serving a Wise Guys Pizzeria pasta bar.

Thank you to our Mustang and Panther Counseling teams for coordinating this event each year.

Senior Cookout Success

The Class of 2024 celebrated their Senior Cookout on Friday, October 27th, during the three lunch periods. The Colleyville Lions Club grilled over 500 burgers for our seniors, parents, and teachers while senior parents decorated the walls of Gym 3 with posters recognizing the Class of 2024.

The PTSA's Senior Events Committee, chaired by Lisa Pollock, would like to thank the dozens of parents who volunteered their time and donated to make this special event happen.

The committee wants to extend a special thank you to these individuals and groups:

  • Colleyville Lions Club
  • The Oswald and Sigrest Families
  • Mary Lemhouse
  • Glenda Cherry
  • Deb Reed and the CHHS Cafeteria Team
  • CHHS Attendance Clerks: Shelia Ybarra, Barbara Brooks, Leslie Ware
  • CHHS Administrative Team: Derek Cain, Frances Mundo, Ross Nelson, Kelli Mann, Gary Barnard

Check out pictures from the event on our PTSA Facebook Page. If you have any pictures to add, please email the picture(s) to president@chhsptsa.org.

Thank you, Chelsea Hall

The CHHS PTSA would like to thank Chelsea Hall for partnering with us to offer a mini ACT and SAT Bootcamp. Almost 50 students spent their Columbus Day holiday learning ACT and SAT test-taking tips and sitting for a full-length practice exam.

Chelsea Hall, located down the street from CHHS, is a coffee shop and tutoring center. Please read below to learn more about this local business.

Chelsea Hall Academic Learning Center is unique in more ways than one! Rather than try to meet the rigorous challenges of high school alone, our members reinforce their school learning within an academic support system where students collaborate with their peers and learn their class material in our small Group Study Sessions. Our energetic and experienced tutors teach these each week, or students can study individually or with friends in our Study Hall with the tutoring guidance and assistance of our student tutors.

Group Study Sessions

We can play a pivotal role in your student's academic journey. Our affordable group study sessions, a maximum of 10 students each, meet weekly with our tutors throughout the year. Our sessions support students in grades 6 – 12.

Each study group contains only students who are enrolled in the same course. Each weekly session is tailored to the material specifically taught in our students’ classes during that week to deliver the maximum beneficial impact on our student’s performance in class and their quiz, test, and exam grades. Our members only need to come, enjoy the company of their friends, and learn!

Quiz and Test Review Cram Sessions

Cram Sessions are special study sessions that prepare students for a specific quiz, test, or exam in one of their classes, typically on the following school day.

Study Hall

Our Study Hall members have access to Chelsea Hall’s facility five days per week (Sunday – Thursday) to complete their homework assignments or study for quizzes, tests, and exams – individually or with friends – with the tutoring assistance of our Chelsea Hall staff members.

Our ACT/SAT preparation offers several benefits to our students. Adequate preparation enhances test-taking skills, boosting scores and increasing college admission and scholarship eligibility chances. Practice in weekly group sessions, cram sessions, and personalized programs builds confidence, reducing test anxiety and enabling students to approach the exam positively. Our preparation also leads to a familiarity with test formats, strategies, and time management techniques, improving performance on test day. All of this results in better scores that increase the likelihood of securing scholarships and financial aid, reducing the cost of higher education.

Final Exams

Watch for our Semester Exam Cram Sessions! Our intensive, focused sessions offer a vital opportunity for students to review crucial materials, reinforce key concepts, and practice exam strategies. With tailored support and a comprehensive review of the semester's material, these sessions will boost your student's academic success. To be held in December, leading up to semester exams!

National School of Excellence

The Colleyville Heritage High School PTSA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.

We need your help! As part of the process outlined by National PTA, we are requesting feedback from families, administrators and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Using the community feedback, we will build an Excellence Action Plan to strengthen family-school partnerships.

Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete this survey. Please complete this survey by November 13th.
