Reflections Art Program
Reflections is a program established by the National PTA over 50 years ago to support students’ participation in Fine Arts in schools. Through participation in the Arts, students gain self-confidence, find ways to express their feelings and ideas, explore fundamental questions of humanity, develop creative thinking skills that support problem-solving, and derive satisfaction and pride from completing a creation of their own making.
This year's Reflections theme is ACCEPTING IMPERFECTION.
Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade and/or Accessible Arts. Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.
Arts Categories

Congratulations to Jessie Olsen (12th Grade)
2023-2024 Texas PTA Reflections Award Winner!
Jessie's music composition entry, I Know, was selected by the GCISD Council of PTAs to advance to the state-level PTA for judging.
The Texas PTA received over 800 entries for state-level judging for the Reflections contest. For the High School category, GCISD students received 3 awards, and CHHS student, Jessie Olsen, received 2 of the 3 awards.
Jessie's photography entry received an Award of Merit, and her music composition received Honorable Mention. The award levels are: Overall Award of Excellence, Award of Excellence, Award of Merit and Honorable Mention.
This is a wonderful achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the Reflections program annually and less than 3% of those advance to Texas PTA. Congratulations, Jessie!
